Gopalganj. Tilkut markets have already started getting decorated for Makar Sankranti. More than half a dozen Tilakut shops have been decorated at Maunia Chowk of Gopalganj city. The artisans who came here from Chapra have started making Tilkut 15 days ago. Readymade Tilkut is not sold at these shops, instead Tilkut is manufactured and sold on the spot. Due to which these shops have a special identity among the customers.

People come to these shops for shopping and some people especially come to see the construction process. When the team of Local 18 also reached there to see the process of making Tilkut, the artisans told the entire process of making it. Other people present there told that one is tempted to see Tilakut being made in front and one has to taste it.

This is how Tilkut is made

Artisan Ritesh Kumar Tiwari, while showing the process of making Tilkut, told that first syrup of jaggery or sugar is made. For this, a thick solution of sugar or jaggery is heated on fire for about 1 hour. When the solution becomes thick and sticky enough, it is placed on a large cold plate, where it begins to solidify. After this, Gatta is prepared by hanging it repeatedly on the latch. After this process, Gatte is mixed with hot and roasted sesame seeds and made into small pieces. These pieces are crushed and shaped into Tilkut.

Artisans are preparing 14 types of Tilkut

This time the artisans have made better preparations on the demand of customers. Customers will get 14 items of Tilkut this time. In this, Tilkut will be available at the rate of Rs 240 to Rs 700 per kg. The most expensive khoya here is Tilkut, which is Rs 700 per kg. The cheapest one is Sesame Rewari, which is Rs 200 per kg. Apart from this, special crispy 460 rupees, plain tilkut 360 rupees, black tilkut 400 rupees, sesame laddu 380 rupees, til papdi 420 rupees, mango-300 rupees, murabba 100 rupees, gajak 240 rupees, samosa 400 rupees, rewari 200 rupees, Anarkali It is Rs 600 per kg. The most senior artisan Prakash Tiwari says that they have been doing this work for the last 40 years. This time also better preparations have been made, so that Tilkut can be served as per the demand of the customers.
